Joseph Swan Chardonnay 1977

A beautiful wine, this; amber with orange highlights. Like an old Burgundy, but with muted tropical notes replacing the lemon. Waxy texture, smooth and powerful, with a slightly bitter, acid finish defeating the hint of incipient marmalade. We were warned in advance of the fine sediment and left it standing for two days before we drank it.
